Public Relations Associate

GlobalFluency, a global PR and marketing firm, is seeking a Publicist/Media Relations Specialist with strong business, technology, marketing and broadcast media relations experience and solid writing skills to join our Palo Alto-based team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Placing stories through media pitching
  • Management of day-to-day client relationships
  • Daily monitoring of media and reporting
  • Writing press releases, fact sheets, and creative pitches
  • Management of editorial calendar and speaking opportunities
  • Research, list building and assisting with program and presentation development for existing clients and new prospects
  • Executing tactical elements of client programs from start to finish


Candidates without the following will NOT be considered for this role:

  • 3-5 years of experience in public relations at an agency or corporate/in house
  • Direct experience managing client engagements and overseeing account operations
  • Experience in pitching (and a book of clips and placements) specific to Business, Marketing, Technology, Green, Health, and Finance media outlets
  • Knowledge of – and direct contacts with – both traditional and online media contacts
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills – we will expect to review writing samples including press releases, pitches, media alerts, byline articles and web copy

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge and insight into traditional and online media outlets, including experience in leveraging social media channels for news distribution
  • Experience pitching global media, including online, traditional and broadcast
  • Experience managing social media campaigns across Facebook, twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
  • A creative flare for story-telling (even with the most technical products) and a fearlessness in chasing the big cover story
  • Proactive in following through with deadlines for media and clients
  • Ability to prioritize, trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects
  • Self-starter who can work independently, with minimal hour-to-hour supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate is an accomplished media relations professional with a proven track record in media relations, pitching and writing, client service, and project management. This individual understands the fundamentals of what makes news, how to obtain news coverage through unique angles and has the ability to work in a team environment, even when that team is spread around the globe.

Marketing Coordinator: Email and Member Relations - Palo Alto
The CMO Council has IMMEDIATE NEED for an energetic, driven and tenacious international marketing coordinator who will run global member development and communications activities. This position will support program managers in both the Palo New York offices. The primary role will be to identify and qualify new member candidates and source lists and partnerships for reaching global marketing decision maker audiences worldwide. This position will also maintain and update the CMO Council’s extensive member database, develop and execute email communications campaigns, and create new partnerships and alliances with marketing groups worldwide. The marketing coordinator will also work with program managers and marketing team leaders to assist with research, content development and event coordination.

This is a position that sets the right candidate up for growth within the organization, learning the ropes from the ground up. To be successful here, you must possess drive, be a self-starter, have a heightened attention to detail, and be able to multi-task in a fast-pace, high-stress, metrics-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and phone communication skills, be able to research, and be fearless in outreach efforts to add members, partners or affiliates. This is a fast-paced, demanding environment that is not for the faint of heart – but for someone who wants to come in, take ownership and really shine.

You will be trained in both email campaign management and CRM tools. A solid knowledge of social media engagement and blogging (tweeting) is a plus. The ideal candidate will have 3 years experience in a marketing or communications position. Previous experience in sales, public relations, member relations, business development or project management a plus. The ability to speak and write in multiple languages is also an advantage.

Experienced, well-rounded marketing services professional needed to drive global thought leadership programs for the Chief Marketing Officer Council (www.cmocouncil.org) and the Forum to Advance the Mobile Experience (FAME) (www.fameforusers.org). Candidates must have strong backgrounds in technology and wireless markets, excellent process/project management and inter-personal skills, deep strategic and tactical capabilities across all functional areas, and a desire to handle challenging, multi-channel communications programs. Intern - New York
We are seeking an intern – with training in PR, communications or marketing – to support our New York office accounts. Primary job responsibilities include research, assistance with writing press and promotional materials, media relations, and providing administrative support. An intern is a member of the GlobalFluency staff and is expected to participate in team meetings and actively contribute ideas to support the overall management and growth of the firm.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting press materials, such as news releases and pitch letters
  • Create, update and manage media lists and editorial calendars
  • Conduct online research for client accounts and special initiatives
  • Establish contact with, and actively recruit, Advisory Board members to support Intelligent Market Engagement™ programs
